<image:title>Work - cbcnews.ca Redesign</image:title>
<image:caption>Launched in February 2011. The CBC News Redesign was a cross-channel redesign that involved a major visual rebranding and a massive overhaul of cbcnews.ca, CBC's social pages and all mobile applications. The redesign of the website's underlying structure to a 960 grid format involved the work of a lead UX, two intermediate IA's, and two UI designers, along with a program manager and approximately 8 developers and QA staff.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In 2010, when mega menus were a required element for large content sites, CBC's digital team developed a fully accessible mega dropdown and fat footer that worked with audio browsers. The project involved the work of an accessibility specialist & developer as well as an information architect and a designer. This initiative received positive attention from the accessibility community and demonstrated CBC's commitment to producing accessible products.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - CBC.ca Design & Usability Guidelines</image:title>
<image:caption>Produced in 2010. When I led the UI Design team at CBC, it was our job to develop the global standards for all digital products. This version of the "DUG" was produced following our decision to move to a new 960 grid, and was the source of much team debate. Due to numerous legacy features on the site that couldn't be updated or resized immediately, this took a lot of wrangling. In the end we delivered a product that helped to smooth the transition to 960.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This version launched in 2013, with new features for Live video and a full roster of news and show content. Subtle interaction design also focused on wayfinding and improving navigation for multi-season episode finding. The design team consisted of an IA, and two UI Designers.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This was a "cheat sheet" created by one of my Design Analysts at MLSE. The objective was to produce something to explain best web design practices to the company without being overly preachy. It was a piece that was presented to the digital staff, but was later put on walls as an education piece for other staff who fed into the digital presentation, but weren't up-to-date on the most recent guidelines.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Optimizing Team Collaboration</image:title>
<image:caption>This seating plan is an interesting case of workplace optimization. Originally working in functional groups, leadership in CBC Digital decided to move staff into product teams to benefit a transition to Agile. Because several teams shared resources, they needed to be placed together, but the physical desk configurations couldn't change. I consulted with the teams and organized a plan, producing this design that maximized team collaboration while minimizing moves. This plan allowed team members to select their own seat within designated areas. Over 35 people moved in 2 hours with almost no complaints, and both internal team and cross-team communication increased dramatically following the shift.</image:caption>
